FREE creative workshops on CLIMATE CHANGE for 14-19s in London this term !
Would you like to perform for the environment, work with professional artists and help others learn about climate change? Are you based in Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington or Camden? Akademi is offering free workshops in a diverse range of art forms for young people aged 14 - 19.
The workshops will be in your chosen art form and can culminate in a live event where the participants
showcase their talent and new knowledge of environmental issues. They also have the opportunity to gain an Arts Award at Bronze, Silver or Gold Level (nationally recognized level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications). They will develop their creative, life and work related skills, and learn about the environment with professional and inspiring key workers and artists.
The project programme is over a 9-10 week period, but can also be delivered intensively over a shorter time. It is flexible and can fit into the school day, at after school clubs, be part of enrichment weeks or a school production. The project can be tailor-made to fit the needs and requirements of your young people and timetable, and can compliment the learning at GCSE, A Level in a number of curriculum subjects such as P.E, Dance, Geography, Citizenship, English, Art, Music, Theatre, Drama, Performing Arts and Design & Technology.
“It was an incredible experience! I learnt so much from my teachers and it was so exciting being around Shlomo. He’s such a celebrity, I’ve seen him on television loads of times! My advisor was so lovely and helped me with my Arts Award portfolio. There was freedom to do it in any media I wanted: I could paint or blog - She was open to any of my suggestions and now I’ve got a brilliant qualification out of it!”
- Participant of Urban Vani, aged 17.
“It’s fantastic to know that the Arts Award is linked to such high profile work! The show was amazing and a brilliant example of how new and old art forms can work together in very exciting ways.”
- Caroline Bray, Arts Award Regional Development Coordinator: London
Akademi will facilitate the project free to you, through funding from the Learning and Skills Council. We require 10 to 20 eligible and committed participants to see through the whole project.
