Concrete Jungle project. Cool it Schools needs the UK's green schools to lead the way.

May 22nd 2010 has been named Biodiversity Day for the International Year of Biodiversity and Cool it Schools will be launching Concrete Jungle, an exciting wildlife conservation habitat and gardening project.

Would you like to create a flourishing wildlife garden in your school playground? We need as many schools as possible to participate in Concrete Jungle so we can create the biggest inter-school wildlife habitat in the UK. The first Concrete Jungle is underway at The Charter School, Southwark. We need more schools to join the project ready for the UK launch on May 22nd. If you are interested in becoming part of this national event do please get in touch with Jane through the contact form.

The aim of Concrete Jungle is to encourage every school to create wildlife habitat in their grounds: from squeezing a pond into a corner of your playground, a hedgerow around a netball pitch, installing bee hotels or making a hedgehog nest, everything counts toward conserving our beautiful wildlife.

There will be a free teacher's pack online soon, full of practical tips such as how to plant a tree, care for toads and eat your own brussel sprouts. Concrete Jungle unites all the conservation trusts under one umbrella, has national surveys you can join,  exciting creative art projects, includiing making your own wildlife documentary and a new global poetry competition plus it's a great way to support your Eco-Schools work.

Biodiversity is Life Concrete Jungle is part of the world-wide celebrations of 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity.
