Great Big Hairy Bug Draw at London Zoo - Alex has won!

Alex Williams aged 6 has won the 2011 Great Big Hairy Bug Draw at London Zoo. Alex's drawing of the Red Knee Spider is full of energy and Alex's use of line is wonderful. Congratulations to Alex who can now look forward to holding the Zoo's tarantula in March, along with other animals.

Congratulations also to the runners up Lewis Harry (5 yrs), for his patchwork insect Lucy Kennard (8yrs) for her Eastern Lubber Grasshopper, Ewan Gentle (8yrs) for his Scorpion and George Kuhn (14 yrs) for his praying mantis and William Hurditch (14 years) for his beetle. Our runners up will be getting Derwent colouring pencils after Christmas - we hope you all carry on drawing.

Altogether we had 1,450 drawings made in 5 days and they were all wonderful. We are still archiving the collection of drawings in the Cool it Schools showcase and as soon as we are finished this digital archive of inspirational art by young people will be stored at the British Library.
