The Concrete Jungle is growing fast and if 26,000 schools join in we can reach the target of 300,000 sq meters of garden for wildlife.

Have fun learning about the UK's plants and animals, how to look after them, grow your own food with the help of wildlife - hedgehogs are terrific gardeners. Get stuck into Art Projects and Competitions dreamt up by painters and poets including Writing the World, Fabulous Fabrics of Nature, Creatures from the Blue Lagoon and What The Bee Sees ( a new painting competition opens this autumn to win 15 deluxe bee hotels). October brings our Big Draw Specials including The Great Big Hairy Bug Draw and more at London Zoo, Petal Power Dressing, Action Drawing and The Earth Moves!

Don't forget to upload all the films and images from your projects into your Cool it Schools Showcase

And, most important of all, with extinction accelerating at 1,000 times the fossil record (normal rate) you will be protecting our beautiful wildlife by providing new, safe habitats.

You can also participate in Scientific Surveys help gather data for major research projects
Secondary schools could introduce a horticultural qualification. The City & Guilds NPTC Level 1Award, Certificate and Diploma in Practical Horticulture Skills (7573-01) is excellent and has something for everyone. Environmental experts Groundwork may be able to give you a hand. Check out Wild About Gardens, put together by the RHS and Wildlife Trusts, it has terrific tips and information to help your garden to bloom. You can also register for The  Big Wildlife Garden and Eco-Schools  and gain an award.

Schools Worldwide We welcome you to join in with Concrete Jungle but be sure to research your own environmental requirements. We would love to see your gardens and artwork, so please upload images into your Cool it Schools showcase.

Whether you have a garden teeming with flora and fauna and can be a center of excellence, or are starting from scratch, your contribution makes a huge difference. With every school that joins the Concrete Jungle, the larger the garden will grow and the more species we can protect.
